The Generic Price Sheet
Calling on General Contractors and Sub Contractors on their jobsites is a job that takes thick skin.
you never know what you might encounter,
The biggest blow-off to me is what are your rates:
Many local Labor companies start with the standardized quotes
Labor- blah blah
Semi Skilled(Which I cannot stand) basically a laborer that shows up on time.
Skilled is the most annoying price sheet description. I mean skilled at what? How in the hell can you put a single price on a skilled worker.
When you hire a trade person you might get a $12.00 3 year with minimal tools. or you might get a person that is 15 years experience that you need to pay 20.00 per hour.
When you quote 21.50 then you are taking yourself out of the market of hiring someone that is a real asset to your organization and being able to help your customer.
Your plan needs to get around the generic price sheet. these small tips will help....
1-ask for a meeting to discuss what your customer expects from each level of experience.
2-when do you need extra manpower.
3-what are the payment terms? 30-60 etc....
4-Is there Overtime involved?
5-Do you need to provide some sort of screening process.(back ground, e-verify, credit,) these items take up a lot of admin time which takes you away from selling to other customers.
once these basic questions are answered you are better equipped to provide an accurate price that will be profitable to you and productive for your customer.
